Sacrament of Holy Baptism

“Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble” (Book of Common Prayer, p. 298)

In the Episcopal Church, Baptism is the full and complete entry into the Christian faith. As such, those who have been baptized in any Christian tradition in the name of the Triune God are considered baptized in the Episcopal Church. Those interested in the Christian faith and considering baptism typically undergo a period of conversation and education, usually under the direction of a member of the clergy.
